For the Mountain Goats' 10/12/2024 show at Mr. Smalls, I made another compilation tape! This time, featuring a wider array of songs! The two main sources were the Jack & Faye EP and the demos from Nothing for Juice. You can check out the tracklist below! I made a few changes since last year, mostly clerical. The truth of the matter is that this tape's theme is pretty loose. Functionally, it's "Unreleased songs that are too good to miss," but in practice, it's the Jack & Faye EP and the demos from Nothing for Juice with some bonus tracks (notably, Going to Palestine, for obvious reasons).
There are a few differences between this tape and the one from last December. First and foremost, the J-Cards are cardstock instead of notebook paper! This will hopefully mean that they feel much sturdier. The art (which is still hand-drawn) is now also hand-colored! There are still 6 main designs, and for each of the 6 main designs, there's one special variant. In total, there are 30 tapes.
There shouldn't be any glaring changes to the audio quality, although I did level these tracks digitally this time around just for ease of dubbing. I can't tell when I listen, but if you had a better setup, you may be able to.
This is also a great time to give a shout-out to the Sony TC-WE305, which has been unrelenting in its dubbing and has borne all of these tapes itself this year.
